My Challenge:  My client had recently acquired a division of another global organization, which immediately tripled their number of trading partners. This meant they also needed to support all kinds of new integration requirements such as application-to-application (A2A) integration, direct connections, and web services. The acquisition made them a giant company overnight. They quickly found out they had a scale problem with their legacy integration environment. It just wasn’t built to handle exponential growth or support the requirements of all these new trading partners.

Our Solution: This client operates 24/7 so the new translator and B2B gateway architecture had to be stable. We recommended IBM® Sterling B2B Integrator and the Remedi Framework solution. It made sense because they need to support a wide range of communication protocols and not have to worry about security or high availability. The Remedi Framework extends what S-I can do, and it was designed to deliver the data visibility they were lacking before.

Results for My Client: The results were very positive. Sterling Integrator was able to handle the increased transaction volume no problem. And with zero disruption to business operations. What I’m most proud of though, is that because of the new integration environment my team and I delivered, my client achieved a three-year return on investment of over $4.5 million. Not every project is this large, but it’s a great reminder that you’re doing something that matters to the business and its employees.
