Last month Remedi partnered with Mid-Ohio Foodbank to fight hunger and raise awareness. Our office staff volunteered by sorting and packing food that was going to be delivered to hungry seniors in the community. Nearly 20% of the food received by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank has to be sorted and packed before it can be delivered to the people that are in need.
We were given the opportunity to inspect and determine the safety of the donated food prior to packing the boxes that were going to be delivered in the community. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is dependent on donations and volunteers in order to provide their services. Monthly budgets are being stretched and a recent study done “Feeding America” shows that in the United States 1 in 7 people struggle with hunger. Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs that provides food services to people each year. They are the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a partner in this infrastructure. Last year the food bank network distributed more than 3 billion meals to people in our communities in need.
