Defining Your “Why” - The Core Benefit of EDI and Data Integration

At the end of the year, most companies are trying to wrap up in-flight initiatives and planning for the upcoming year. During this busy time, we often help our clients (and potential clients!) with their integration strategy and project budgeting and sizing initiatives. During these high-level strategic conversations, it’s important to nail down their integration “Why” – why are they investing in EDI and data integration and what are their desired business outcomes? If you’re not familiar with the premise of “Why” among the world’s best organizations as outlined by the thought leader Simon Sinek, check out his TED Talk, How Great Leaders Inspire Action.

We’ve found that the most progressive companies have clearly defined the benefits of EDI and data integration and have a very similar “Why” for their integration group.

Why: To help organizations increase revenue, reduce costs, achieve competitive advantage, and operate more efficiently, effectively and profitably.

And the How & What to complete the Golden Circle?

How: Provide Information Technology solutions that are uniquely designed and meaningfully differentiated.

What: Offer Business and Data Integration solutions (technology and talent) that include EDI, EAI, MFT, Business Intelligence, and Visibility.

In addition to the “Why,” progressive integration groups across our client base also subscribe to the notion of continuous improvement…always be learning, improving, evolving. Those of this mindset believe people and organizations are either moving ahead or behind. This is especially true to keep pace in the global competitive world of today.

While many organizations embrace continuous improvement, breaking status quo can be challenging: there can be many roadblocks to overcome such as budgetary issues, inadequate knowledge and skills, limited resources, and internal political issues – just to name a few! But where there’s a will, there’s a way.
