IBM And Sterling Commerce's Integration Solution Game Plan

After attending a webcast last week hosted by Sterling Commerce that featured Forrester Research’s Principal Analyst, Ken Vollmer, I thought it would be of great value to our customer base to present a brief recap of the webcast. The webcast focused on the business strategy that IBM and Sterling Commerce have developed surrounding their business-to-business (B2B / B2Bi) integration solutions now that IBM has completed the acquisition of Sterling Commerce. In short, Sterling Integrator (SI) will become the core foundation of key IBM B2B / B2Bi solutions and IBM will integrate several of its key integration tools with SI to become a more robust B2B solution. AS2 Products Become Drummond Certified

Here is a link to a press release from The Drummond Group and also the complete list of the 21 AS2 products that have recently completed the AS2-3Q10 Drummond Certified Interoperability testing.  AS2 is a protocol for the transport of data.

A sample of the companies includes Sterling Commerce, IBM, GXS, Seeburger, Cleo, EXTOL, TIBCO, and others.  This is interesting news in the EDI world as AS2 continues to become more and more popular as a messaging standard for B2B eCommerce.

As REMEDI finalizes its marketing plans and initiatives for 2011, it is apparent that the effect of social media on marketing is here to stay. From Twitter to Facebook to LinkedIn and all of the other social media newcomers and yet-to-bes, there is no denying that social media is having a major impact on marketing, even when it comes to business to business marketing. At a recent conference that I attended, I heard some staggering facts. Email and text messaging are already on the decline in usage with certain demographics and that some colleges and universities no longer issue email addresses to students, instead advising them to set up Facebook and Twitter accounts to communicate with their professors and fellow students. I was stunned!
