Choose Between Virtual Or On-Premise EDI Software

Posted by Scott Hulme on Jan 12, 2012 11:37 AM

Are you trying to decide between virtual EDI software or an in-house EDI solution? One of the best things about what I do on a daily basis is that I get to talk with clients about their ideas and blueprints for their EDI/eCommerce environments in the near-term and the long-term. This is the time of the year that strategic planning is high on the priority list for companies as they review and evaluate their current situation. One of the questions I am most asked of by clients is what my thoughts are on utilizing software in an in-house installation or a virtual capacity. There are many different flavors to the in- house and virtual possibilities, but for the sake of brevity associated with a blog, let’s use these terms as general terms. As REMEDI finalizes its marketing plans and initiatives for 2011, it is apparent that the effect of social media on marketing is here to stay. From Twitter to Facebook to LinkedIn and all of the other social media newcomers and yet-to-bes, there is no denying that social media is having a major impact on marketing, even when it comes to business to business marketing. At a recent conference that I attended, I heard some staggering facts. Email and text messaging are already on the decline in usage with certain demographics and that some colleges and universities no longer issue email addresses to students, instead advising them to set up Facebook and Twitter accounts to communicate with their professors and fellow students. I was stunned!

The CIO's Agenda for 2009, A Review

Posted by Scott Hulme on Sep 17, 2009 7:00 AM

While shuffling through some miscellaneous papers on my desk this week, I came across some notes that I had from the Sterling Commerce Customer Connection in April. The notes were from a session that I attended that outlined the Financial Services CIO's agenda for 2009. This information was assembled and presented by Gartner at the conference. As we enter fourth quarter of 2009, I thought it was interesting to reflect back on what CIO's were focusing on in early 2009. Here is what they found were CIO's top business priorities for 2009. Day 3 and part of day 2 sessions covered the Sterling integration solutions where the various GENTRAN product lines are concerned, basically most things non-Sterling Integrator (GIS).

As you can imagine these sessions were very well attended and contained folks concerned about preserving their investment in traditional GENTRAN products and integrated infrastructure. Read More
