Electronic Data Interchange support personnel are professionals who manage and maintain the EDI systems at an organization. They ensure the smooth flow of data between trading partners, troubleshoot any technical issues that arise and provide support to employees who use the system.

Last week, we received an application for our Customer Success Specialist position. At first glance, Alex’s (not their real name) application seemed super promising. Then we began to notice red flags that created doubt about the legitimacy of their resume.

If you are planning on investing in an EDI system, there is a very good chance you will have to make a case for it in front of your board of directors. That might seem like a daunting task; it is likely your board of directors has no idea what EDI is.

In the face of an uncertain economy, outsourced EDI is becoming more attractive to organizations that lack the internal IT resources or the desire to efficiently manage their EDI processes. At the same time, they have recurring EDI needs such as onboarding new trading partners and supporting existing relationships.

In the coming years and decades, the business landscape is likely to see technological advancements improve EDI in the supply chain.
