Integration Competency Centers (ICCs)

We attended the Informatica 9 World Tour event in March and were introduced to the idea of competency centers, AKA centers of excellence, as related specifically to integration. Informatica has done a lot of work on the data integration ICC concept and in fact have evolved their product(s) in line with this thinking. This concept is a more formal and complete one than in my blog article, "The Evolution and Convergence of EDI and EAI". And it should be since the ICC notion is based on the book Integration Competency Center: An Implementation Methodology, written by David Lyle, VP of Product Strategy at Informatica, and John Schmidt, President Worldwide Integration at Integration Consortium.

Selected B2Bi and EAI Contracting Survey Results...

At the end of first quarter 2009, REMEDI administered an informal survey to integration and eCommerce leaders in various companies across many different vertical industries.

The results were interesting to say the least. The survey results confirmed assumptions in some areas, and enlightened us in others. The intent of this survey was to better understand attitudes and awareness surrounding integration and E-commerce from a contract services and recruiting/placement perspective.

I also spoke of opportunities where existing integration tools could further support the business in tough economic times. The result of these additional solutions include enhanced productivity, reduced cycle times, and enhanced business process modeling/management, allowing for better business network integration, collaboration, and supply chain visibility/management. With the constrained budgets of many, much of my ranting early in the year was about getting the most out of the data integration tools that exist within the organization.
